100 Days of Halloween: 5 Scary Clowns to Mess With Your Coulrophobia

100 Days of Halloween: 5 Scary Clowns to Mess With Your Coulrophobia

For all of the monsters that we face off with, @TheMonsterGuys are not coulrophobic. That is, we do not fear clowns. Sorry to disappoint.

Researching, studying, and often hunting vampires, werewolves, and all manner of grisly-ghouly, we have very little to fear. 😉

We are certainly not afraid of spiders

…and we are CERTAINLY NOT afraid of open windows….erm….anyways…

The point is a man in makeup is not frightening!

But for many, clowns are terrifying.

Whether it be due to the unfortunate bad reputation the media gives clowns or the “uncanny valley” factor, a large percent of the population seems to struggle with coulrophobia. According to a study done at the University of Sheffield, children just flat out have issues with clowns.

But heck, Halloween is almost here! What’s the fun of this spooktacular season if you aren’t going to get some goosebumps. In light of American Horror Story’s recent “twisted” news, let’s take a look at 5 freakish clowns to make you pull the covers up at night.

American Horror Story: Freak Show

Let’s get this list started out right. While we’ve seen three clowns thus far revealed in this season’s teasers. One of the strongest impressions has been by this unknown clown. And though we aren’t afraid of clowns, this guy puts us on edge.

Cereal Clown

The eyes. *shudder*

Pennywise the Dancing Clown

Not the subtlest villain in the book, Pennywise broke reality. He captured that feeling of a fear you couldn’t tell your parents because they would think you were making it up.

The Clown Statue

Not long ago we did a post on urban legends, featuring the story of the Clown Statue. This little gem of a short captures the disturbing idea of a patient, disturbed watcher….

Ronald McDonald

Teaching children to trust strangers that can perform magic tricks. Let’s just speculate for a moment what would happen, say…we find a strange clown feeding our children magic hamburgers in the neighborhood these days…? And that final musical note!

And does anyone else remember those cardboard trays Happy Meals used to be served in? Memories…

Did we miss your favorite scary clown? Did you *have* a favorite scary clown? Let us know in the comments below!
